These are proper MTB tires, and I'd consider them mid-range. The ones I received run true with virtually no wobble. Each tire weighs approximately 980g and has fast-rolling center knobs that are short and stubby. The side knobs are a nice robust size for cornering. The tire width sizing seems accurate, with side knob-to-side knob measuring 2.40 inches, and the tire also has a nice arc profile on my 30 mm rims.
So far, I've used them on various terrain commonly found in the Sierras, including shallow sand, granite rock (round, flat-faced, and slabs), loose dirt, mud, and pavement. For climbing, I thought they had plenty of traction over a variety of terrain and technical climbs with minimal slipping. Being lightweight also reduces rotational mass, which also helps a bit.
Downhill performance was just as good, excellent grip and plenty of stopping power. Cornering felt reliable and predictable, and when they did start to slip, the tire would recover quickly. The tires felt fast rolling, and even though the casing is 120 TPI, I thought they had a very firm or harsh feel, even on a full-suspension bike. But that firmness also made them feel very supportive, likely due to the inner nylon anti-puncture layer. I noticed no sidewall wobble, burping, or bead issues. So far, I like how they ride, and they are also low-noise on pavement.
I do think they are somewhat pricey at $62 per tire. I ordered the two-pack, and the tires arrived in a box with both tires inside, They should suit most non e-bikes. They are versatile across a wide range of terrain and can be run with tubes or as tubeless. They are compatible with hooked rims.
Extended Review:
With short-term use, it's difficult to know how quickly they will wear or how resistant they are to punctures. I've already put at least 40+ miles on them, and the tread still looks new. I think these are a good middle ground between an XC tire and an enduro tire. They still feel sturdy and durable enough for most trails I ride, ranging from green trails to black diamonds.
I also like that they are tubeless-ready. The tires sealed well, and after a few rides only a small amount of sealant seeped through the sidewalls, which is common with many tubeless tires during the initial setup.
Both tires are Made in China.
